Ice Runway…

Yesterday was a damn perfect day to fly, so I headed up to New Hampster to hit Alton Bay. The community owes a huge debt to the volunteers that keep the runway open. Was a fantastic day of flying…

Wishing I had the Skis on…

I have em in the shop, just haven’t gotten the chance to get the skis on yet.  Really hard with all this snow!

Flying w/ Pops…

Took my Pops up flying the other day… He’s getting the hang of the Wagon.

Nostalgic First Lap Vid…

Got some more flying in this weekend and a better chance to get a feel for the MT… (solid 10hrs )

Was working it pretty hard and I had one T/O in the 150′ range… so I think I’m sold.

Got a bit nostalgic for the day I brought her home and shot this 1000′ T/O roll.  Such a different airplane.

Very Cool Film…

Was down the internet rabbit hole obsessing on Skywagons.  Tripped upon this… (it’s worth watching.)

Kevin Skis…

Kevin has been taunting us with the snow they are getting out west.  (Getting me jealous) I found this vid he posted last year.  Cool to check out.  I gotta learn to ski…

Apostles of Flight

Found this on the BCP.org site.  Cool story/cool pilot… (and nice Skywagon content)  Best part is when he says, “I don’t like being scared, so I try not to do things that scare me.”

Afternoon Visit…

It continues to be an amazingly warm December, and a perfect excuse to play hooky from work. After a couple of days of rain, the clouds broke and I jetted over to Sherman field for a quick visit with my friend Dick.

Cool Yak Dead Stick…

Saw this last night.  Pretty cool.

Headed out to Katama (1B2)

I think Im getting the 180 dialed in a bit closer.  I have 10hrs on since the new tires etc., and it feels nice and tight.  Of course this whole CS prop thing is totally new to me, but I think Im getting it.  Cross country from L.A. I was worried at the 14.5gph burn, so I’ve been messing around with power settings and have been happy with a lesser 11gph burn at roughly the same TAS.  In the C170, the A/C seemed to want to wheel land all the time.  With the 180, its the opposite.  Its soooo much heavier than the 170.  More practice needed…

Was a bit dreary in Eastern MA today, but a nice calm day to fly.  I put 1.4 on the hobbs and headed over to Martha’s Vineyard and did a couple at Katama (1B2).  (such a great place)  Playing all this hooky from work is gonna kick my ass come next month.

Block Island to PYM…

Had a great day flying yesterday. Flew down the Long Island coast to Montauk (to check out some of the hurricane damage,) than back up the beach at 600′. Stopped for lunch at Block Island than back to PYM.

Fantastic Dec day to fly here in Eastern MA. Here is a vid of the flight home.
